A delightful microbrewery in downtown Johnson City, serving several tasty beers. I particularly enjoyed the coriander beer. It’s a small place, but big enough to enjoy some craft beers. the brewing occurs across the street, as there is little room for equipment in this place.

Natahala Brewing – Bryson City NC
This feels more like a production brewery to me…and I just couldnt find a beer I liked. This is so rare – luckily. Sorry to report this, but this was not a brewery for me 🙁 This is especially sad, as i love whitewater rafting on the Nantahala river. The silo out front is a […]
Highwire Brewery – Asheville NC
Highwire is a small brewery with unique equipment, unique name, and a unique feel. Something is very cool about this brewery, even in a saturated brewery town like Asheville. Some of their equipment is refurbished from old dairy factories – pretty cool.
Mountain Layers Brewing – Bryson City NC
A new yet sizable brewery with a fantastic balcony and mountain feel. Fresh cut woodfurnishings create an atmosphere that fits a microbrewery serving hand crafted beer from a 7 barrel system. Brewing is downstairs and the taproom is upstairs. Plus a nice view of the stream that runs through Bryson City. Also they have totally […]
Appalachian Mountain Brewery – Boone NC
This brewery has some awesome beers and ciders. Two standouts: Till Death Brew Us Part and Boone Creek Blonde Ale. Till Deal Brew Us Part was brewed by one of their brewers for his own wedding, and it includes 3 wines. It’s hard to describe the taste, other than outstanding. I bought several cans to […]
Jekyll Brewery – Alpharetta GA
This brewery has great energy and great beer. They have a monster system, with over 10 beers on tap. Many were excellent. Their Cooter Brown was memorable. I’d definitely go back. I visited in mid 2017, before GA lawmakers joined the modern era allowing breweries to sell beer (vs. tours with ‘samples’) […]
Dry County Brewing – Kennesaw GA
This brewery has a nice atmosphere, with many tables, TVs and games. They had 7 beers on tap, and most were excellent. They had a special release that was outstanding. The bartending staff was not your typically friendly bunch and they were not very knowledgable about the beer. The guys in the brewery were stellar, […]
Hop Alley Brewery – Alpharetta GA
Hop Alley is a restaurant, with a small in-house brewery. The brew system is right behind the bar, in full view, which is always a bonus. They had 5 beers on tap. The Hellfire IPA was excellent. It seems the owner is still working to perfect the other recipes (or should be). The bartender was […]
Blowing Rock Brewery – Blowing Rock NC
A brewery, a restaurant, and an Inn… all in the mountains of North Carolina along the Blue Ridge Parkway. This microbrewery brewpub is a must visit along the parkway, with its welcoming southern feel. Also I got a great tour of the brewing equipment in the building out back.
Lazy Hiker Brewery – Franklin NC
Just a few miles from the Appalachian trail, hikers may divert from the trail for some libations. A nice variety of craft beer, and an outdoor porch under the stars. A food truck stays ready. The brewing is done in a separate building, right next to the taproom — unfortunately no tours offered 🙁 […]
