When in the west Chicago suburbs, look for the Lucky Monk for craft beer and a full restaurant. Actually the focus is mostly on the restaurant, but the brews are good to sample. They have a fixed flight, which is a little sad, but these standard brews don’t disappoint. This place has a club where […]

Props Brewery – Fort Walton, FL
Visited the Props microbrewery just over the causeway from the barrier island onto the mainland. They have a brew system here with only one fermenter and one brite tank, as they mainly brewing in a larger separate location a couple of miles away. Thus this is now essentially just a restaurant. Regardless, I enjoyed their […]
Coppertail Brewery – Tampa FL
Tasty craft beer, great atmosphere, gotta love it. I’ve only been once, but want to return! Large brewing system, making them able to distribute, but still a microbrewery / brewpub feel. I wanna go back. IMG_9997
Appalachian Mountain Brewery – Boone NC
This brewery has some awesome beers and ciders. Two standouts: Till Death Brew Us Part and Boone Creek Blonde Ale. Till Deal Brew Us Part was brewed by one of their brewers for his own wedding, and it includes 3 wines. It’s hard to describe the taste, other than outstanding. I bought several cans to […]
Jekyll Brewery – Alpharetta GA
This brewery has great energy and great beer. They have a monster system, with over 10 beers on tap. Many were excellent. Their Cooter Brown was memorable. I’d definitely go back. I visited in mid 2017, before GA lawmakers joined the modern era allowing breweries to sell beer (vs. tours with ‘samples’) […]
Dry County Brewing – Kennesaw GA
This brewery has a nice atmosphere, with many tables, TVs and games. They had 7 beers on tap, and most were excellent. They had a special release that was outstanding. The bartending staff was not your typically friendly bunch and they were not very knowledgable about the beer. The guys in the brewery were stellar, […]
Offshore Ale Co – Martha’s Vineyard MA
Visiting Martha’s Vineyard is stellar by itself, and over the top when it includes a brewery tour. Offshore is an appropriate name as this is truly an island brewery. It is both a restaurant and a brewery, doing a great job at both. Nine beers on tap, and nearly all were excellent. The waiter was […]
Saltbox Brewery – Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia Canada
What a cool place, named after unique houses built in the area. One of the owners gave a full tour, and shared the story – I love that. They brew with love and heart, and make beers. Their passion is obvious. They also grow some hops, and have a nice outdoor area (which probably gets […]
Ulele – Tampa FL
A large facility, focusing on a bustling restaurant, with substantial wine cellar and bar, yet they happen to brew their own beer. This is not the microbrewery feel, but we still had a tremendous time. Sadly no brewery tour!
Bangin Banjos Brewing – Pompano Beach FL
The theme is banjos and the beer is flowing. A nice little place in a warehouse, worth the stop. Its a relatively small brew system, but produces great craft beer. The owners are passionate about making tasty beer. IMG_0628
